BIOGRAPHY
Yogi Devgan is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, director, and producer whose storytelling reflects his multicultural roots and dedication to meaningful, human-centered narratives. Based in Australia, he creates films that celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the shared human experience, connecting audiences across cultures and borders. A graduate of the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Film and Television, Yogi founded Mount Lofty Studios, a creative hub committed to bold and authentic storytelling. His body of work spans narrative films and documentaries, each crafted to inspire dialogue and social impact. Yogi’s recent short film, I Am OK, is a 2026 AACTA Award contender, while his acclaimed long short film A Silent Escape has earned multiple international awards including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress. The film is now streaming globally on CHAUPAL across Australia, Europe, and beyond. His documentary Smile, It’s Free received several global accolades, and Unbreakable Stride won the South Australian Award at the Focus on Ability Film Festival. Beyond filmmaking, Yogi is a strong advocate for inclusivity in cinema. He founded the PADIF and AFDIF Film Festivals to amplify underrepresented voices and provide creative opportunities for diverse storytellers. He also volunteers his time for charitable causes — most recently serving on the 10×10 Adelaide Committee, helping raise $24,000 for grassroots charities. Additionally, Yogi has served as a judge for the Multicultural Mental Health Film Festival in Melbourne. Through every project, Yogi Devgan continues to use film as a powerful tool for connection, cultural expression, and positive social change.
